t was extremely pleasing to be able to field 8 players last Friday night against Sunshine United as leading into the game it looked like we would not have the minimum 7 starters required to get the game under way?
Thanks goes to Sunshine United for assisting in making up the numbers whilst we were in the field.
Special thank you goes to Reeva, Kobe & late fill in Jacob for coming on board as late as Thursday evening…………………..
Seddon v Sunshine United – Friday 14th Oct @ Albion Primary School
With birthday boy Aidan taking on the Captain’s duties, Sunshine United elected to bat first after winning the toss.
Seddon opened the bowling with our two very promising girls in Reeva & Neha, both of who acquitted themselves extremely well considering it was their first time bowling with the new ball!!
The S/U openers put together a solid start before Jacob accepted a sharp catch in the slips off Brayden’s bowling.
Unfortunately it was the only wicket that we were able to take and S/U eventually finished their innings on 1/106.
Some really nice work was done in the field as well as both Roni & Darcy taking the ball well behind the stumps.
Bowling stats – Reeva: 0/7, Neha: 0/24, Jacob: 0/13, Aidan: 0/22, Kobe: 0/16, Brayden: 1/8, Darcy: 0/14 & Roni: 0/6 ……………Some great bowling across the board!
With a rather large target to chase, both Roni & Darcy batted solidly & steady in the first 6 over’s but it was soon realised that the 106 run chase might be just a bit much for team to chase down. We eventually ran out of over’s and finished on 2/79.
A really good team effort first up of which we will improve as the season goes on.
Our coach chose to rotate the team ensuring all players had the opportunity to spend some time out in the middle, of which will continue throughout the year.
Batting Stats – Roni: 7 no, Darcy: 2, Brayden: 17 no, Kobe: 1 no, Aidan: 3 no, Jacob: 8, Neha: 0 (run out) Reeva: 0 no
Training night will be Tues, 430pm – 530pm…………. Pls endeavour to have all players there on time to allow all kids to bat & bowl before working on our fielding.
A reminder that the shirt & hat package ($50 in total) should be available at the club this week & also that cricket fees of $120 is due preferably by the end of Oct (this covers all costs including the weekly umpires fees)
Can we please again request that all parents at some stage throughout the season assist on match days with the scoring or if someone is available to take ownership of this task then that would be greatly appreciated?
We also strongly suggest that each player has a drink bottle and some nibbles’ as the kids can get really thirsty and hungry during the evening.
