The Seddon CC Committee are pleased to announce Talor Williams as Senior Coach for season 2019/20. Talor will be supported by Liam Braithwaite as 1st XI captain and a coaching group consisting of John Dryiski, John Taylor and David Roche.
Talor came to Seddon CC at the Xmas break last season, immediately making an impact in the second half of the season (being ineligible to play 1sts due to VTCA rules) with his contributions with bat and ball - which was significant in the 2nd XI making the semi-finals for the second straight season. Talor is looking forward to working with the senior group this season. We believe Talor will be an excellent addition as coach and will be well supported by the coaching group throughout the season. Talor can be contacted on 0431 342 083 or via email on talorwilliams@hotmail.co.nz if you would like to get in contact with him. We wish Talor and Liam all the best for the 2019/20 season. In relation to pre season training, the coaching group and committee have finalised the schedule. The pre season training schedule has now been published on the website. Further information will be provided shortly on training expectations and requirements this season, the club get together on Saturday 31 August and the proposed practice match on Saturday 21 September. If you know of any friends or colleagues who would like to play at Seddon CC this season, please bring them down to training or the club this season. We’re looking for players of all ages and abilities across our senior and junior sides. The Seddon CC Committee

Dear Members,
Hope this message finds you well and you're loving these winter days. The cricket season and the warmer weather is not far away! Following on from recent club updates, below is an update on club news in the off season. Committee changes At the recent AGM on 19 June the committee welcomed Jim Bougatsias as Ordinary Member (2), replacing Stewart McLeod who served in the role last season. The committee would like to thank Stewart for his contribution on the committee last season and look forward to seeing Stewart around the club this season. The full list of 2019/20 committee members is listed here. Senior sides There has been discussion around the club for some time on the make up of our senior sides this season. At the last committee meeting it was decided that the 3rds would be a one side this season. Since the 4ths have been a one day side two seasons ago, and based on anecdotal feedback from a number of lower grade players over the last 2-3 years indicating they prefer to play one day matches, the committee have made the decision to advise the VTCA of our intention for the 3rds to be a one day side this season. Therefore this season the 1sts and 2nds will play in the two day competition (also playing one day matches) and the 3rds and 4ths will be one day sides only. We expect this decision will be advantageous to the 3rds in that players who prefer to play one day matches will now be selected in the higher side rather than choosing to play in the only one day side (as in previous seasons). We also expect more players - past and present - to embrace this outcome, which will consequently strengthen numbers across all grades. Bunnings BBQ In November last year the club ran a Bunnings BBQ at their Maribyrnong store. It was a great success in raising much needed funds and awareness of Seddon Cricket Club. This year our Fundraising Director, Brian Rooney, has secured the Bunnings BBQ at the Maribyrnong store on Sunday 8 September. With this commitment, we require as many club members to volunteer or come down and purchase a snag or 10 on the day! If you would like to volunteer on the day, please contact Brian Rooney on 0434 220 590. We will be up and running at 9am and finish around approx. 4pm - see you then! Junior umpires Each season the Western Region Junior Cricket Association (WRJCA) are looking for umpires to officiate in junior matches on Friday nights and Saturday mornings. This season is no different, with the WRJCA requesting clubs actively seek umpires across all junior grades and matches. Junior umpires are paid $60 for each Friday night or Saturday morning match. If you are interested in some extra cash and have a reasonable grasp of the laws of cricket relating to junior cricket, please contact Nathan Wigmore on 0408 551 708. Thanks. Regards, Leigh Davies President Seddon Cricket Club |
