Although we are heading into the AFL Grand Final week, the Seddon Cricket Club are also full steam ahead with the cricket season fast approaching.
Below are some key dates to put into your calendar:
Tuesday 25 September - Training
Training between 5.30pm-7pm.
Thursday 27 September - Training & rooms open!
Training between 5.30pm-7pm. We also officially take over the club rooms as the summer tenant, therefore the bar will be open and the rooms will be fully functional.
Tuesday 2 October - Training
Training between 5.30pm-7.30pm. With the first match on Saturday 6 October and daylight savings kicking in, there will be sufficient light for full nets training.
Thursday 4 October - Training & Selection/Pie Night
Training between 5.30pm-7.30pm. Also first selection and Pie night.
Saturday 6 October - 94th birthday party
Along with our first match of the cricket season, it is also our 94th birthday party at the club rooms that evening. This event will be an annual event as we count down to 100 years as a cricket club in six years (2024). It promises to be a fun night to fire up the start of the season, so I urge you to come along and support this event. It's a fundraiser with a live entertainer, fully stocked bar and an abundance of finger food. Entry is strictly by way of prior payment and confirmation for catering and ease of running the event on the night.
If you have already indicated you will be attending and haven't paid as yet, I urge you to send your $100pp payment to the club's bank account ASAP via EFT (see below):

Saturday 3 November - Derby Night
Derby Night event at the club rooms starting from 7.30pm. More information to follow.
See you down at the club!
Do you live within 5km of our club rooms? If so, please help Seddon Cricket Club and vote for a new Automated cricket pitch roller (see link below). We need as many votes as possible, with voting closing at 5pm on Monday 17 September.
Please share the link with friends, family, work colleagues, neighbours, local businesses and people you don't like - basically any one who lives within a 5km radius of Seddon Cricket Club and who are therefore eligible to vote for our project.
Why do we need a new Automated cricket pitch roller? The current manual roller is on it's last legs and our voluntary curator - the great man Geoff Price - needs all the help he can get to ensure we continue to prepare quality wickets for our senior sides.
The more votes we get, the better the chance we have of our project getting selected and obtaining funding from the State Government. It's that simple!
The countdown to 100!
Club Members should have received an email invitation via paperless post to a club fundraiser event we're holding on Saturday 6th October. The event is the Seddon CC 94th birthday party - which will be an annual event as we count down to 100 years as a cricket club in six years (2024).
If you did not receive the email invitation, please check your junk mail folder for details and or reply and let me know if you'd like to attend and we will forward the details to another email address. We will also be sending out a reminder email tonight.
Please note we have had a number of bounced emails, so if you know of club members who do not know about this event, please ask them to contact me ASAP.
However we do have a limit on attendees due to space, but it seems we should be fine to extend the invitation to family and friends. So if you know of others who like going to birthday parties where everything is paid for, where the gift idea is simple, the location is familiar, please let me know by return email and I'll do my best to ensure we have a place reserved for them. Just send me their first names and surnames and their main email address to send the invite.
This will be a fun night to fire up the start of the season, so I urge you to come along and support this event. It's a fundraiser with a live entertainer, fully stocked bar and an abundance of finger food. Entry is strictly by way of prior payment and confirmation for catering and ease of running the event on the night.
If you have already indicated you will be attending and haven't paid as yet, I urge you to send your $100pp payment to the club's bank account ASAP via EFT (see below for NEW BANK ACCOUNT DETAILS), so we can mark you off the chase list.

Seddon Cricket Club
We recently had a farewell function at the Victoria Hotel on Hyde Street for
Charlie Carey, a member of the club for in excess of 50 years. The function was
well attended by club members and Charlie had a wonderful night catching up
with members, and former members who attended on the night. The club gave
a small gift to Charlie to thank him for his time and effort over many years.
Charlie started at the club as an 11 year old and played under 16 cricket with us.
He then played in our first XI as a spinner and a lower order batsman for many
Charlie has been a committee member and secretary of the club in years passed,
demonstrating his desire for the club to progress. Over the last three years
Charlie has been the scorer for the First XI, a job that he has relished. He has
been around the club most Thursday and Saturday nights during the season.
Charlie has moved to Thailand, for personal reasons, and we hope to see him on
a visit to the country when he visits his sons, Andrew and Chris, who were both
We wish him the best on the next leg of his journey through life, and I am sure he
will follow our progress from afar.
Presentation Night this year will be at Mantra Studio Kitchen Bar on Saturday 28 April.
Come along and celebrate the achievements, good times and everything else in between of the Seddon Dockers Cricket Club in season 2017/18.
This year we are going with something slightly different and having a stand up cocktail function with plenty of finger food, as opposed to sit down meals, although there will be some tables and chairs for those who would like to sit down.
We encourage you to get out your best gear and bring along your partner to this once a year event! It's sure to be a great night.
To help us pre-book correct numbers we're looking for full payment in advance ASAP.
The cost is $50 per person and payment is via the Seddon CC bank account or over the bar before Sunday 25 March. See details below.
