It is with great sadness that we advise Robert ‘Bob’ Neville Grieves, Seddon Cricket Club Life Member, passed away Sunday morning.
In over more than 30 years Bob served the club as President, curator, club scorer, committeeman, awarded best clubman and also acted as a VTCA umpire. In addition to Bob’s official roles at the club, Bob was a passionate supporter of club matches each Saturday and, along with his wife Joan, always attended and assisted with social events during this period.
Bob and Joan were important leaders at the club when it was struggling. They kept the club surviving and allowed the club to become stronger in later years and today. Bob was made Life Member of the club – along with Joan – in June 2004. Bob had a marvellous sense of humour and we were all lucky to come into contact with him.
Bob is also the father of Lynn (great supporter of social functions), Murray (Vice President), Jason (current President) and Neil (current player and junior coach). In addition Bob is the grandfather to the next generation of cricketers including Lewis, Jackson (Jacko), Harley and Darcy who have all played for Seddon Cricket Club.
Bob’s funeral will be held 10am this Thursday 23rd February in the chapel at Altona Memorial Park. Address is 14 Dohertys Road, Laverton North (take the turn off at Grieve Parade).
Afterwards the family is having the wake in a familiar place at the Seddon clubrooms between 12pm-3pm. Finger food will be provided and drinks during this time. The bar will remain open after this time and members wishing to hang around can do so till it closes.
The Seddon Cricket Club sends our thoughts and condolences to all of the Grieves family.
